Everyone has a personal responsibility to prepare, make a plan, and coordinate with family members to ensure their safety.
Plan for a minimum of 72 hours before aid comes to you or recovery efforts have been established to allow you to return.
Fuel up you car and generator.
Make a kit, include the following items:
Battery operated AM/FM radio
Reliable flashlights
Non perishable food (something that does not need to be cooked and can be eaten out of a can)
Bottled water
Important papers such as insurance binders and personal identification.
Make sure to have ample supply of medications in the event that you must leave your home.
CASH, loss of power means no ATM's will be available.

What will I need for my pet if I go to a shelter?
SHELTERS SHOULD BE A LAST RESORT BUT IN THE EVENT THAT YOU NEED TO SEEK A SHELTER FOR YOU AND YOUR PET, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:
Pet health and vaccination records
A kit with at least 3 days worth of medications, food, water, litter, collar and leash
Wherever you go your pet must be identified, healthy and restrained in a cage or crate.
